Wild animal tee shirts

I am learning to sketch a wild animal and transfer my drawing to a tee shirt.  I used special fabric markers to colour in my design.

Numbers sentences to 10

I am learning to read and make patterns to 10. I am learning to write the number sentence using the symbols.

Reading out loud

We are learning to read out loud familiar poems. We are trying to read with fluency and expression. As we get more confident, we can pay attention to the author's punctuation to help our reading sound more interesting.

"I can sound out words I don't know when I read out loud. I can read loudly so everyone can hear" said Eti

Wonderful writing

At writing time we are learning to write all the sounds we can hear in words. This means we listen for the beginning , middle and end sounds.

"I am trying to colour in the pictures nice. I can make nice letters."

Rocket ship

We have been learning about the solar system this term.  We made a rocket with paper and a straw then blew through the straw to see how far our rocket would travel.  

Number writing

I am learning to write my numbers correctly and independently to 20.

"i can write up to 20, I can count up to 100." said Eti.

Owl Babies

We are learning to publish our writing for an audience, because we are authors. In Room 3 we try to present our work in many different and interesting ways to encourage people to come and read our fabulous stories!

High frequency words.

I am learning to read and write my high frequency words independently.

"I can read the words and write on white boards.  I can make the sounds."

Matariki

Our classroom celebrated Matariki, which is the Maori New Year. We came to school in our pyjamas and had a yummy breakfast together! It is great to share time with our whanau.

"I have never had my breakfast at school before. It was new for me."

My marvellous family

Here I am at the parent workshop with my Mum and Dad. They are learning lots of different ways to help me with my reading and writing. It was fun!
